French Side of the Battle of Verdun
I am French Marshal Petain, during World War I
I saw the wars my country lost and felt sorry for them
to our situation. But the State cannot be saved like this! We noticed this in a region called Verdun:
If we didn't stop the Germans here, they would enter Paris without any problems. Thereupon, measures were taken immediately. We sent equipment here against the Germans. Hundreds of thousands of Europeans lost their lives during the war. It was a very long war (301 days, which is the longest continuous war in the world even in 2023) and war technology had improved a lot since the last war. As a matter of fact, approximately 70% of the dead soldiers died from artillery fire. A total of 40 million artillery shells were used. Thanks to this battle, which showed French pride and patriotism, we did not lose much territory in World War I.
